My home in the summer is my oasis - especially this summer being pregnant. Jose and I bought this place a little over a year ago. We weren't looking for a new house at the time - but we couldn't resist this one. The selling point for us was the amazing pool in the backyard. So - that is where we spend our summer nights and weekends. Now - this year with the pregnancy I have been able to float in my raft, which is super comfy! I've also been doing laps - which is great exercise and the baby loves the water - at least I hope the baby loves the water!
Anyway - Jose and I are getting ready for our annual Fourth of July Pool Party Bash! Family - Friends - can you ask for a better day?? This year my brother Eric will once again be in town (he lives in Louisville)and all the kids are super excited - you see last year Eric stood at the edge of our diving board and shot roman candles out of his butt. You see why the children love him. They have all been asking if Eric was going to be in town! Yes Eric will be here - of course making his way back to GR requires a stop in Indiana to buy those famous Roman Candles.
Well...I am off to bed - just got back from dinner at Rick & Todd's - neighbors that live right down the street. They are AWESOME guys! We are very lucky to have the friends we do!

True Story - we've been calling the baby Zippy for a good 5 months now. Jose and I have decided not to find out the sex of our child - so we just call him or her Zippy. Last week I was at Schuler Books and Music to get something new to read and to pick up a Kenny Chesney CD (we just saw him in concert.) Anyway - I swear this is what happened. I walked into the store and looked to my right - and I see this HUGE display of books for people who are in local book clubs. The first book I see - is titled - A Girl Named Zippy. I am not kidding! So, obviously my book search was over - I HAD to get this book and read all about Zippy! It's a true story about a girl from Indiana and what it's like growing up in a small town - really small - population of 350! Zippy got her nickname for being quite FAST around the house - you know always Zippin' around! Anyway, if you are looking for a good summer read - pick it up or give me a call and I'll send it to you!

I took the dogs to the vet today. It was just a routine check-up with shots for Bryan, but both dogs came because if you take one dog away from the other they FREAK OUT. So, my intern Shannon came along to help me with my two furry children! Bryan is once again heartworm free and I have some good literature that my vet gave to me regarding what to do or how to handle the dogs once the baby comes. Riley (the little dog) will have a hard time because he truly is a mommy and daddy's boy. I vowed to both dogs today that they were my first babies and I would love them the same if not more than I do now once our new family member arrives. Let's just hope they don't chew up the crib!

I am REALLY EXCITED about posting my first blog entry! I got this idea from my cousin Laura - who is a wife and great mom from the UP. Laura started a blog this year and everytime I feel sad I check out the latest with her and the kids and it makes me smile!
I thought that I would try my hand at this blog thing - especially since my husband Jose and I are expecting our first child in September. I thought this would be a fun way to share my pregnancy experience with you and our first year as new parents - which I am SURE will be quite a journey!
So, I am now in my 7th month of pregnancy...YEAH!!! Actually I have 10 1/2 weeks left before my due date! To be really honest I am not one of those women who loves being preggers. I don't mind the weight gain and the body change but I have been cursed with morning sickness! Still even at 7 months I still have days where I get sick and can't hold down a meal. All those tricks that people tell you - eat crackers before you get out of bed - THAT DOES NOT WORK!!
Thankfully, my wonderful Doctor put me on Zofran which is an anit-nausea medication that is typically given to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. It helps but not 100% - but I am very glad to have it in my purse at the moment!
The really cool thing now is feeling the baby move around - I feel him or her all of the time! And - now I am feeling body parts - but still not sure what I am feeling - could be an arm, a leg or a foot - but it sure is cool. The first time I felt one of these little parts - it freaked me out. It was SO weird - but made things very official....There is in fact a baby in there. Jose and I are over the moon about this - and right now just trying to enjoy our last few months together before the baby comes! My Doctor told Jose yesterday that he needed to take me on one more vacation before the baby arrives - and he told her that he did take me on vacation and it's called Zippy's nursery. FYI - Zippy is what we call the baby. Kind of a strange name - we know - it was given to us by our friend and neighbor - Gary. We love our little Zippy!!
